"HARP MUSIC IN OLD CHURCHES"
Churches are exceptional places of silence. In the peaceful atmosphere of candlelit churches, harp music encourages us to reflect and contemplate.
The music of the harp, which has an history of 6000 years, is particularly appropriate in these places. Harp music has its beginnings in ancient Egypt. As the "queen of instruments", the harp has been important in many cultures as an instrument used for praising God's creation. It produces "music of the spheres", that evokes the idea of heavenly paradise in the listener.
The mostly romanic and gothic churches chosen for the concerts are situated in beautiful landscapes at the Lake of Constance, in Ticino, Brittany, the Grisons, Anglia in Schleswig-Holstein, and on the Isle of Rügen.
